When the danger can't be seen, bravery must be.
Facing an invisible enemy, Bertie ‘H. G’ Wells discovers that imagination isn’t just escape—it’s power. And it might just save Victorian London.
Thirteen-year-old Bertie is tired of being told he's too frail for adventure - until a bandaged stranger demands jars from his family's struggling shop, sweeping him into a mystery that could destroy the Crystal Palace's dazzling Age of Innovation Exposition.
When objects fly and shops are smashed by unseen forces, Bertie is blamed. To clear his name, he must gather an extraordinary band of allies, guided by the creator of Sherlock Holmes. London is under attack, and only one boy can see the truth.
A brand new Crystal Palace Chronicles spin-off adventure series blending history, mystery, science fiction, and fantasy—perfect for young readers and the young at heart.

I liked the idea of HG Wells as a kid having an adventure that he later turns into his Invisible Man book. Luckily It was not just a clever idea, it was also a very entertaining story. The young HG Wells is such a likeable and fun character, and the story has loads of thrills and suspense that made it a great read
I read this with my kids and enjoyed it as much as they did! It was funny, fast-paced, packed full of fascinating history and heart-warming friendships. A clever nod to the great H. G. Wells. Can't wait for the next adventure!
Love following a young HG Wells on an adventure around the Crystal Palace and surrounding areas.
An enjoyable read full of adventure for children and adults alike!
Having got hooked on Graham's Crystal Palace Chronicles I was delighted to find out that Bertie (a young HG Wells) was to have his own series of adventures. The first one is great fun and many of his accomplices/friends are there to help. As always, Graham's writing brings the characters to life. Definitely an all ages read.'
